There is a good reason for this policy.

Lipton House is both a family-run hospitality business and a private family residence, with the owners and their children living on the premises. We therefore take the privacy and security of the property seriously.

Since taking ownership of Lipton House in March 2026, we have maintained a strict guest-only parking policy.

If you have a confirmed accommodation booking with Lipton House, there is no additional charge for parking your vehicle during your stay.

Hotel guests arriving by car are welcome to use any available designated parking bay at Lipton House.

There is no additional parking fee, and guests may leave their vehicle at the property for the duration of their booked stay.

When you arrive, please park considerately so that other guests can access the remaining spaces comfortably. If you are unsure where to leave your vehicle, simply ask us and we will be happy to assist.

Although Lipton House and its grounds are considered a safe environment and the parking area is monitored by CCTV, vehicles and their contents are left at the owner's risk.

We therefore recommend following the same sensible precautions you would use anywhere else: lock your vehicle and avoid leaving valuable belongings clearly visible inside.

I am a local – why can't I park at Lipton House?

We are sorry, but Lipton House is private property as well as a family-run hospitality business.

The property has been under new ownership since March 2026 and is also our family home. 

For privacy, security and to ensure spaces remain available for paying hotel guests, parking is reserved exclusively for Lipton House guests.

We appreciate the understanding of our neighbours and local community.

How long can I park my car if I am a hotel guest?

You can park your vehicle at Lipton House for the duration of your booked stay, subject to the hotel's parking conditions.

There is no additional parking charge for staying guests.

Can I park my car before check-in time?

Potentially, yes.

If previous guests have already departed and parking spaces are available, we may be able to accommodate your vehicle before the official check-in time.

Please contact Lipton House before arriving early so that we can confirm whether a space is available.

Can I leave my car at Lipton House after check-out?

Possibly, but please speak with us before leaving your vehicle after check-out.

Other guests may be arriving later that day and we need to ensure sufficient parking is available for them.

Where availability allows, we will always try to help.

Is the Lipton House car park monitored by CCTV?

Yes.

CCTV monitoring is in operation at Lipton House. However, guests should remember that vehicles and belongings are still parked at their own risk.

Do I need to reserve a parking space?

Parking is provided for hotel guests, but if parking is particularly important to your trip - for example, if you are travelling with a large vehicle - we recommend mentioning this when booking so that we can advise you accordingly.

Is parking at Lipton House free?

Yes. Parking is complimentary for guests staying at Lipton House.

There is no separate nightly parking charge.

Free parking is useful, but hopefully it will not be the only reason you choose to stay with us.

Lipton House is a distinctive historic property dating from the Victorian era of the 1860s, with original architectural details and a character that has developed over more than 150 years.

Today, the house is being carefully restored and upgraded while preserving the features that make it special.

Guest bedrooms are generously proportioned, and most enjoy views towards the Firth of Clyde. The size of the rooms also makes Lipton House particularly suitable for couples and families looking for more space than they might typically find in a modern hotel bedroom.
